CDT's Instructional Design

CDT employs an Instructional Systems Design (ISD) methodology to ensure that a client's employees develop and retain the skills necessary to increase performance in the workplace. This ISD is closely modeled on similarly structured methodologies that are industry standards.

You will find additional information about ISD methodology in the links below. Each of these topics includes a brief discussion and an accompanying graphic.

Phase

Purpose

Analysis

Determine the most appropriate solution for the client

Design

Create a design for the solution to meet the client's requirements

Development

Prepare the materials to support the client's requirements

Implementation

ISD Planning

To ensure success for a project, CDT provides in-depth planning throughout the ISD. This planning, accomplished during the Analysis Phase, includes the following:

  • Determine instructional needs
  • Determine instructional system concepts
  • Determine resource requirements and constraints
  • Develop ISD management and evaluation plans, including the project plan

This planning assures that the client receives an ongoing appraisal of the project status and that appropriate continuity and professionalism are apparent in the delivered solution.

Total ISD Design Model

The total ISD Design model maintains quality assurance throughout the development of a solution. This quality assurance includes the following elements:

Element

Detail

Management

Manage the time, money, and resources required

Support

Provide educational and/or technical support

Administration

Ensure a project's schedule and development milestones

Final Quality Assessment

Ensure that the solution meets the client's performance gap

More specifically, this evaluation and quality assurance include the following project checkpoints:

  • Review and edit of all documents
  • Sign off and approval of all documents with the client
  • Document all activities
  • Evaluate the solution based on the results of a pilot test
  • Implement measurable goals and milestones throughout the developmental life cycle.

This evaluation and quality assurance ensure that the client receives a properly managed and implemented solution.
